Yes. As weird as it sounds, I haven't watched the original Higurashi series and I finished Gou and Sotsu not too long ago. I realized halfway through that Gou was not a remake but it was too late to stop as I was completely indulged in the story and couldn't bring myself to stop and watch the original first. Now that I have finished Sotsu, I can watch Original Higurashi and I have already started watching it. I was just wondering if its worth it because I'm spoiled about many plot twists thanks to Gou and Sotsu and I think that "mystery" is a very important thing in Higurashi series. Though, one thing I have noticed is that not everything is predictable and there are some new things and details here and there which expands my knowledge of Higurashi's world. But I wanted to make a forum and ask the community about their opinion. Have I ruined the series for me? Or can I still enjoy the original series?

P.S:

Thanks for reading and sorry for my bad English. It is not my first language so I apologize if you had a hard time understanding.

Yes it is cause the story of first Higurashi is a little different than gou and sotsu as rika was trying to avoid the bad events in gou and sotsu it changed the story a little than the original if you have watched gou and sotsu before the og it won't affect the experience of watching the og in fact it makes it more interesting.

It is better to read the visual novel with the 07th mod, or read the manga, or if you can't do the other two watch the DEEN anime, but be warned it is a very butchered adaptation.

You probably will get a different experience than the people that watched the original but that being said, I would still recommend it.

Yes. The original is worth the watch cos of how different and mysterious it is despite having almost identical arcs to Gou/Sotsu.

you have been spoiled for a lot which kinda ruins the mystery of it, but its still really really good and i’d recommend you still watch it as theres a lot that gousotsu leaves out

Yeah. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to read the visual novel. I tried and even downloaded the visual novel, but sadly couldn't read it because of college. So I'm gonna watch DEEN's anime since I'm done with Gou and Sotsu. Thanks for replying :)

Yeah, it is probably a different experience than the one I would get by watching the OGs first, but ngl, it's not a bad experience and I'm enjoying it. Thanks for recommending it and replying to my comment.

Yes, you're right. I have been spoiled way too much but like you said there is still so much that is new for me. So many new details that I missed out on. Thanks for replying

Definitely. Also, there is less censorship from what I've heard. I'm enjoying the original so far. Thanks for replying ^^

Of course it depends on what you're looking for, but yes.
If for nothing else, the vastly superior direction and atmosphere can still make you feel like you're watching something.

Intelligent gets through situations which wise avoids.

Yeah, I know. Started Gou thinking that it's a remake. I was going to start the Higurashi series anyway so I thought I might as well start with GOU. I realized after 3 episodes that it was not a remake, but it was too late as I was invested and didn't want to stop in-between. So yeah I'm sorry for that.

It's absolutely worth watching, the original series is much more well written and more enjoyable in my opinion. Not to mention more satisfying, both in story and the conclusion. Also, no need to apologize for your English, it's much better than you're giving yourself credit for!

Thank you very much mate. I'm enjoying the original version so far. I'm in love with it, in fact. Deen's Higurashi did such a wonderful job in storytelling and creating a psychological horror/mystery atmosphere. Thanks for your recommendations and I appreciate the kind words. I'm more confident about my English now xD.. Thanks

Lmfao. Sorry for that. I'm just used to saying "Ahan" which is like nothing special but simply a sound or like a nod. Its like saying "yes" or agreeing with something the OP has said. Its a general response for when I don't have anything else to say.

I m sorry to say this but u made a very big mistake of watching this new Higurashi before OG bcoz OG was far superior in every way possible. This new Higurashi Passione studio is not at all competent to handle a mystery anime as they r Ecchi focussed Studio..Also Keichi character would feel completely different in OG which is good..U should have checked the OG score and this new Higu score.Only songs r good in this new Higu

So, chronologically it is: (after original, Kai and rei) gou eps 18-24 -> gou 1-4 -> sotsu 1-3 -> gou 5-8 -> sotsu 4-6 -> gou 9-13 -> sotsu 7-11 -> gou 14-17 -> sotsu 12-15

Is it right?

What's the point of this thread, like seriously it comes across as your crying about your favorited anime not being talked about in the general anime space which who cares that's kind of cringe you actually crying about considering that you have an show with alright review and 2 movies and an 3rd one on the way most anime fan wishes their fav series get past the season 2 hump.
